Being a curvy community, heath and beauty are 2 of our most covered topics. Hydration is extremely important especially here in the dry desert of Las Vegas. We have ‘extra issues’ just like those who live in extreme cold. Our skin is our biggest organ and it needs to be well hydrated both from within by drinking water and from without by applying good, healthy products.
Nothing is better than soaps, salts and lotions made from all natural products in small batches so that quality controlled and you get the best bang for your hard earned buck$.
My pal, Ruby, back in NJ used to make soaps and lotions on a commercial level but after some family tragedies, has opted to only make for personal use! I was at a loss to find something to replace those great soaps that made my skin glow, especially after I moved back to Las Vegas. Nothing commercially could compare. Lush, to use on a daily basis, was just too costly and while their make up is good, their skin care products are still commercially produced and the quality is not consistent.
Then my long time cyber pal, Virginia from “over the hump in Pahrump” told me she was a long time soaper and I ordered some of her products. I was instantly hooked. My 1st purchase of Whipped Shea butter in a 4 oz. container has lasted me from November until now and I still have it. I use it after every shower but it is so rich and made with 66% natural shea butter plus jojoba oil and essential oils for scent. I love love my custom made Lavender-Vanilla. But more importantly I love the effect it has only skin.
My son who has typical teenaged skin plus is now shaving and coupled with the fact that he has “Pseudofolliculitis barbae” aka know to black men everywhere as “razor bumps” Nothing I used could help this. He would avoid shaving and let his beard grow just not to have this. Then i purchased for him some of Old West’s shaving soap with a brush to lather it on. His dad for 30 years has used Noxema to shave with but it burns and leaves a residue behind. I had his dad show him how to use the brush to apply the soap and then shave with it. Not only has his skin cleared up, but he’s shaving every other day now. And after 30 years of pain, his dad is using it to shave both his face and his head. Who said you cannot teach an old dog new tricks??
Anyway, as I was placing my order before the heat of summer sets in, I mention to Virginia that I would be having a booth at the BBWNetwork Bash 2008 and then was inspired to ask her to share the booth with me.
She will be bringing her delicious soaps, shea butter lotion and some nice bath salts so that after a dip in the pool, you can wash that SPF50 off and come out smooth and creamy.
and with the ULTRA concentrated scents from both essential and fragrance oils, you’ll be the Bella of the Ballas er ball.

I’m real curious about the Whipped Shea butter your friend makes with 66% Shea Butter. I’m a soaper myself and have tried many recipes for a whipped butter and just can’t seem to get one I like. I think I’ll try your friends- it sounds yummy!
Hi, I tried a lot of different recepies until I came up with my whipped shea butter one. One of the things I don’t do is lotions with water. Water = must have preservatives to prevent bacteria. I use shea butter, coconut oil, Vit E, jojoba oil, essential oil scents and a touch of rosemary extract. All natural, and made in small batches. It is really hard to ship this time of year, because the melting points of the shea butter are low…in the 80s…so I tend to just sell it locally. So if you want to pick some up, make sure you stop by the BBW bash!
