The second big trend in jewelry for summer 2007 is beaded necklaces, worn in multiples. What fun that these are back in style in a big way! Combining colors and textures is a fun way to add some pizzazz to your basic wardrobe. Check antique shops and eBay for inexpensive additions to your collection and experiment with different combinations.

Here are some examples of Natural Stone necklaces that are handcrafted by our master jeweler so he can lengthen them if necessary. Most come in at least 18″ but can be customized as necessary:

Handcrafted Natural Stone Jewelry

If you do want to play with combinations (and who can resist?), seek to include some unifying elements. The elements can be 1 or 2 colors that are in your outfit or that compliment it; textures and materials that mix such as metallic chains mixed with pearls in different lengths; some colors either pastels in the same color family but different shades like in pinks, or blues OR intense colors for the main piece like violet or Azure blue then highlighted with lighter shades of the same family; and finally the same scale such as chunky or thin but not mixed. A chunky necklace matched with a chain would overwhelm the chain, losing the effect.

Here are few different styles as well that are “chains” Most of them are 18-20″ and are priced under 20.00.

New Items This Week

According to Glamour magazine, for the Goddess Woman (Fully figured and curvy girls) there are 2 hot trends in Accessories Fashion this summer and will continue into the Fall and holiday seasons:

The first big trend is bangles, worn in multiples. People magazine calls bangles “the trend of the season.” Plastic and wooden bangles are hot, right along the genuine fine jewelry versions studded with gemstones! Mix them up, and come up with your own eye-pleasing combinations. Wear two or three – okay, maybe four or five or more – and keep an eye out for hinged or open back bangles for comfort and ease of wear.

LJ Midsummer Sale: Bracelets

Don’t assume that you need wide cuff-like bangles if you’re full-figured. Look to the size of your facial features for a clue as to the optimal width of the bracelets. If you have large eyes or a large nose or mouth, wider bracelets will suit you. If your features are delicate, choose narrower bracelets, but don’t hesitate to pile them on.

Be sure to try on a bangle bracelet before purchase. Many of them are small, and it’s horrid to be scraping your hand as you try to free yourself from a bracelet that doesn’t want to come off. Also give your arm a bit of open space, or you risk the look of a “sausage” or “cankles” effect when you completely hide the beautiful curves of the lower arm and wrist.

Dateline: Tampa Bay Florida

The local Renaissance Festival, Bay Area Ren Fest, kicked off with a beat this week. A drum beat that is. OMG resident photographer Ms. Chris attended and captured some awesome pictures of a St. Petersburg based dance troop called the Demzarah Gypsies

Belly dancing is a fun way to get moving. It’s like doing Cardio for fun.
Here she shakes it up while making her coins jingle.

Shaking her coins

Her costume she made herself with scraps of silk. The coin girdle was found in a thrift shop. Her fairy necklace she purchased from Ebay at Whimsical Notions.
